Overcome Unbelief to Receive Your Miracle
As we gather today, I want to invite you to join me in prayer. Father, we come before you with open hearts, ready to receive your word. Help us overcome any areas of unbelief in our lives, so we can experience the fullness of your power and blessings. Strengthen our faith, Lord, and help us to trust in you completely. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
We’re going to speak today on a very important topic: overcoming unbelief to receive your miracle. In our series on “Miracles in Motion,” we’ve covered a lot of ground, and next week will be our final session. Whether you’re new to this city or have lived here for years, whether you’re trying to raise your kids in this busy world or facing your own challenges, we all share something in common: we experience moments of doubt.
The Danger of Unbelief
Unbelief is not just a passing doubt; it’s a heart position where we refuse to fully trust in God’s promises. When unbelief sets in, it blocks the flow of God’s miracles in our lives. It causes us to miss out on God’s best for us, and that’s a big deal.
Let’s look at the story of the Israelites in Numbers 13 and 14. Moses sent 12 spies to scout the Promised Land, and 10 of them came back terrified, saying the people there were giants and they couldn’t overcome them. The people of Israel chose to believe the 10 spies, and because of their unbelief, they missed out on entering the Promised Land. Instead, they wandered in the wilderness for 40 years.

Unbelief can also breed fear and anxiety. In the story of Peter walking on the water in Matthew 14:28-31, Peter started strong, but when he saw the wind and the waves, he became afraid and began to sink. Jesus had to reach out and catch him, saying, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”
The Consequences of Unbelief
Unbelief shifts our focus from Jesus to our circumstances, and then fear and anxiety take over. It’s a tragic cycle that we must break. When we take our eyes off Jesus and focus on our problems, we start sinking, just like Peter.

The good news is that faith is the key to receiving miracles. Scripture tells us that “without faith it is impossible to please God” (Hebrews 11:6). Our faith must be in God’s character, not just our circumstances.
Faith is the Key to Miracles
Faith Requires Action
Faith is not passive; it’s active. In the story of the woman with the issue of blood in Mark 5:23-34, she said, “If I can just touch his clothes, I will be healed.” And she pushed through the crowd and touched Jesus, and she was healed. Faith requires us to step out and do something, not just sit back and wait for God to do it all.

The Size of Your Faith Doesn’t Matter
The size of your faith is irrelevant; it’s the object of your faith that truly matters. Jesus said that if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can move mountains (Matthew 17:20). It’s not about how big your faith is, but how big God is in your life.

Feed Your Faith with God’s Word
To overcome unbelief, you need to feed your faith with God’s Word. Faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of God (Romans 10:17). Saturate yourself with the Scriptures, because when the enemy comes to attack you, the Word of God will stand as a protection.
Surround Yourself with People of Faith
In Mark 2:1-12, when Jesus saw the faith of the friends who brought the paralyzed man to him, he healed the man. You need to surround yourself with people who have faith in Jesus, people who will encourage you and help you grow in your own faith.
My Challenge to You
As we close today, I want to challenge you: Is there an area in your life where unbelief is holding you back? Only you can answer that. Perhaps it’s an area where you’ve stopped praying, or maybe God has been speaking to you about something, but you’re hesitating to take the next step in obedience.
“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.” – Ephesians 3:20-21
Don’t look at the problem; look at the problem-solver, the One who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine. Surrender your unbelief to God and trust in His power to work mightily in your life. He is waiting for you to take that step of faith, and when you do, prepare to be amazed by what He can accomplish.
My friends, the choice is yours. Will you choose to overcome unbelief and receive the miracles God has in store for you? I pray that you will, for when you do, you will experience the fullness of God’s power and blessings in your life. God bless you.
