Making Disciples: A Kingdom Responsibility

Making Disciples: A Kingdom Responsibility

Welcome, dear brothers and sisters in Christ! Today, we continue our series on Kingdom responsibilities, focusing on an essential aspect of our Christian walk: making disciples. Before we dive in, I encourage you to watch the accompanying YouTube video for a more in-depth discussion on this topic.

The Call to Discipleship

As members of God’s kingdom, we are called to adopt a Godly Kingdom mentality. This means shifting our focus from worldly concerns to spiritual growth and the advancement of God’s kingdom. Remember, you are the local church! Every time we discuss church responsibilities, we’re talking about your responsibilities as a believer.

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” – Matthew 6:33

But what does it mean to make disciples? Let’s break it down:

1. Teaching and Developing Believers

Discipleship is not just about converting non-believers; it’s about nurturing and growing those who have already accepted Christ. It involves:

  • Sharing the message of Jesus’ love and salvation
  • Helping new believers understand and follow His teachings
  • Providing ongoing spiritual support and guidance

Have you ever wondered what it would be like if Jesus were living your life? That’s exactly what discipleship aims to achieve!

2. Living as an Example of Christ’s Love

As disciples of Christ, we are called to be living testimonies of His love. This means:

  • Modeling Christlike behavior in our daily lives
  • Showing compassion and kindness to others
  • Demonstrating integrity in all our actions

“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” – John 13:34-35

The Importance of Community in Discipleship

Discipleship isn’t a solo journey. It thrives in community! At ICA Macau, we offer various fellowship groups to support your spiritual growth:

  • Young Adults Fellowship
  • Ladies’ Warrior Princess Group
  • National Fellowships
  • Men’s Ministry

Are you missing out on these opportunities for growth and connection? Remember, we’re not just working for the church; we’re sharing our blessings with one another!

“And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.” – Hebrews 10:24-25

The Challenge: Be a Disciple-Maker

Now, I have a challenge for you: This week, commit to taking one step towards being a disciple-maker. Here are some ideas:

  1. Invite a fellow believer to study the Bible with you
  2. Share your testimony with a non-believer
  3. Attend one of our fellowship groups
  4. Offer to mentor a new Christian

Remember, “Christianity without discipleship is always Christianity without Christ” (Dietrich Bonhoeffer). Don’t keep Jesus to yourself – share His love and teachings with others!

A Final Word of Encouragement

Beloved, making disciples isn’t about being perfect. It’s about being willing to share your journey with others, mistakes and all. Your experiences – both triumphs and failures – can be powerful tools in helping others grow in their faith.

As we close, let’s reflect on this powerful truth: The answer to life’s struggles isn’t religion; it’s Jesus Christ. Let’s commit to sharing this life-changing message with those around us, one day at a time.

May God bless you as you embark on this journey of discipleship. Remember, you’re not alone – we’re in this together, growing in Christ and helping others do the same.

Let’s pray: Lord Jesus, help us to be faithful disciples and disciple-makers. Give us the courage to share Your love with others, and the wisdom to guide them in their spiritual journey. In Your precious name we pray, Amen.
