The Truth About God’s Blessings
Have you ever found yourself chasing blessings instead of the Blesser? Many of us come to church seeking God’s blessings, but here’s a profound truth that might change your perspective forever: God Himself is the blessing. Everything else is simply a bonus that flows from His presence in our lives.
“The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace.” – Numbers 6:24-26
Three Keys to Living a Truly Blessed Life
1. Invite God Into Your Life
The foundation of a blessed life isn’t about religious rituals or earning God’s favor. It starts with a simple yet profound decision: inviting Jesus Christ to be the Lord of your life. Christianity isn’t about being bound by religious rules—it’s about freedom through relationship.
“But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name.” – John 1:12
When you become God’s child, you gain access to your Father’s unlimited resources. Think about that for a moment: the Creator of the universe becomes your Father.
2. Believe and Claim Your Inheritance
Here’s a shocking truth many Christians miss: Some believers live like spiritual paupers despite having unlimited access to God’s riches. Why? Because they never learn to believe and claim what’s already theirs.
“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.” – James 1:17
God’s love for you never changes. Unlike human relationships that can be unpredictable, God’s commitment to you remains constant. However, there’s an important distinction to understand: God may not always give you what you want, but He always gives you what you need.
3. Live Out Your Blessings
Perhaps the most challenging aspect of being blessed is learning to live like you are. Too many Christians walk around defeated, even though they possess victory in Christ. Your life should be a testament to God’s goodness.
“But the path of the just is like the shining sun, that shines ever brighter unto the perfect day.” – Proverbs 4:18
Each day with God should bring increasing brightness to your life. This doesn’t mean absence of problems—but it does mean presence of purpose.
The Challenge of Surrender
Here’s where many of us struggle: We want God’s blessings, but we resist His control. We try to compartmentalize our lives, giving God certain areas while keeping others for ourselves. But here’s the truth: partial surrender leads to partial blessing.
Your 7-Day Challenge
I challenge you this week to:
- Start each day by acknowledging God as your ultimate blessing
- Write down three ways you’ve seen God’s blessings in your life
- Share your testimony of God’s faithfulness with at least one person
- Identify any areas of your life you haven’t fully surrendered to God
- Take one step toward giving that area to Him
- Pray the Numbers 6:24-26 blessing over your family daily
- Journal how your perspective on blessings changes throughout the week
Moving Forward
Remember, living a blessed life isn’t about accumulating things—it’s about cultivating a deeper relationship with God. When you make God your primary pursuit, everything else falls into place.
Your breakthrough might be just one surrender away. Are you ready to stop chasing blessings and start pursuing the Blesser?
