My dear friends, we continue on our series celebrating Revival – what a journey it has been for us to learn about personal Revival, to learn about biblical Revival, and what God can do when one is willing to be challenged, to be forceful about going and searching for God’s power in his life, for God’s presence in his life. And we have learned a great deal. I’m so glad for those of you who have written, who have sent us notes about this, have personally talked to me about it. It’s been a blessing to see how God has, through his words, touched you and taught you so much about his word.
Celebrating the Power of Revival
So today, my topic is celebrating the power of Revival. We’re finishing, we’re closing our series. Next week, Pastor Eugene is going to bring to us a powerful teaching on this, as he always does. I’m looking forward to that. But today, we’re going to see how we can celebrate the power of Revival in us, but from the text, from the theme, I hope you understand what I want to get, because there’s no Revival without Jesus, and Jesus is our Revival.
Jesus is the Revival We Need
So where Jesus is, there is a Revival taking place. The power of God is present, the power of God is in action. So Jesus is the Revival we’re looking for. There’s no other Revival apart from Jesus. We don’t go out searching for Revival. We should not go out looking for a Revival. We need to go out if you want to go out looking for Jesus, because he is the Revival. Don’t you agree? Say yes.
Why We Should Celebrate the Power of Revival
So why should we celebrate the power of Revival? Because there is a promise, a promise of Jesus’ presence. And you see, friends, when Jesus is present in your life, when Jesus is in you, when Jesus is with you, there is Revival. There is Joy, because the presence of God brings you the joy of God. And so we should not walk without Christ. We should not walk without that understanding that Jesus is present, Jesus is nearby, Jesus is in you. That’s what makes the difference.
Let me read what Hebrews 13:5 says, and if you have your app, our app, you can open and make notes if you want and save it so you can read it later. Hebrews 13, verse 5: “Keep your lives free from the Love of Money and be content with what you have, because God has said, ‘Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.'”
Hebrews 13:5 – “Keep your lives free from the Love of Money and be content with what you have, because God has said, ‘Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.'”
Why did I choose this to bring to you in consideration to our topic? Because for many of us, for the world definitely, money is the big deal. If you have money, you have everything. Well, this is not a Biblical teaching. If you meet a preacher if you meet someone who’s talking too much about money, you need to pray about this because the word of God is very clear about this. That’s not the problem. Money is not the problem. The problem becomes when money is everything for you, when money is priority in your life. And that’s what the word of God says, “Keep your lives free from the love of money and just be content with what you have.”
Why? Because there’s no greater gift, there’s no greater status, so to speak, than to have Jesus in your life. And that’s what is the promise, and the promise is God will never leave you. So if you ever felt abandoned, if you ever felt alone, if you ever felt God is not near you, this is not from God, because God has said he will never leave you, he will never forsake you.
The Holy Spirit: Your Constant Companion
You may feel alone, you may feel desperate, you may feel in despair, you may feel whatever. But God is near. That’s why last week we spoke to you on God’s love for the Brokenhearted. God is near those who feel in despair. That’s it. And that is why we should celebrate Revival, because we should celebrate God’s presence. He is near you always. And if you feel by yourself, maybe your prayer, instead of saying, “Where are you, God? Why am I here, God? Why am I going through this, God?” Maybe you should pray, “God, let me see you. God, let me see you. God, let me feel you. God, let me see where you are,” because he is near you. He is nearby. Maybe you don’t see him, but he’s there. And that is a reason to celebrate.
The Promise of the Comforter and Guide
Jesus promised us he would send a comforter and a guide – a comforter and a guide. You cannot ask for more. He’s asking, “If you’re asking for something else, you’re doing the wrong prayer,” because Jesus already said he would send you, he would send us, the Holy Spirit. The one who could care for us, but go beyond this, not only a comforter, but a guide. For those of you online, understand this: You’re never lost because God has sent you a guide, one who can lead you to the right place.
John 14:16-17 – “And I will pray to the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever – the Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.”
The Holy Spirit is in you. That’s it. The Holy Spirit is in your life. Pastor, how do you say this? Well, I’m not saying it. Jesus said that. For those of you online, you may feel like, “Who am I to have the Holy Spirit?” Wow, friend, wake up, because the Holy Spirit dwells in you. That is a promise from God. That is a promise from Jesus, because Jesus would go to heaven, and then he said to the disciples, and he’s saying to us, “Once I’m going or once I’m gone, I’m going to send you the Holy Spirit.”
Celebrate Jesus’ Presence Every Day
So, friends, that is a major reason for why we should celebrate Revival, and Revival means Jesus’ presence. We need to celebrate it every day. When you wake up, when you go to work, when we do anything in life, let us just rejoice in the Lord. When you go through tough times, let us celebrate. Let’s say, “God, thank you so much. I’m not alone in this. You are with me. You have sent me the comforter, you have sent me the guide that is able to guide me through paths that I do not know, and he is there forever.”
The Challenge: Recognize Jesus’ Presence in Everyday Life
My dear friends, as we realize God’s presence is the renewal we have, and God’s presence is worth celebrating in our lives, we need to recognize Jesus’ presence in everyday life. Do you recognize Jesus in your everyday life? That’s something that we need to be very careful here. I don’t want you to spiritualize everything. I don’t want you to live like in the clouds. No, we are on earth. We are living here. We need to be really down to earth in everything we do.
Philippians 4:6-7 – “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
But we need to understand this: We need to live in two dimensions. We don’t belong here. Our place is in heaven. And if you, like me, or if you are a Bible-centered, Spirit-filled believer in Jesus Christ, you are always on the lookout, because Jesus is coming back for you. Isn’t that good? Jesus is coming back for you.
So, my dear friends, let us celebrate the power of Revival, enjoying the Emmanuel, God with us, every single day. Let us recognize Jesus’ presence in our everyday lives and live in the joy and power of his constant companionship. As we close, I want to leave you with this thought: The presence of Jesus Christ in your life is the Revival you need. Say it with me: The presence of Jesus Christ in my life is the Revival I need.
