Alive in Jesus: Discovering God’s Easter Surprises, Commitment, and Support

This article is a companion piece to our Easter Sunday sermon. Watch the full message below:

Have you ever wondered why Easter feels different from any other Sunday? It’s because Easter represents the ultimate demonstration of God’s power over death and His incredible love for us. Today, we’ll explore three life-changing aspects of walking with Jesus that become especially clear during Easter.

1. Prepare for Divine Surprises

Imagine being Mary Magdalene and the other Mary on that first Easter morning. They went to the tomb expecting to find Jesus’ body, but instead encountered something extraordinary. This teaches us our first crucial lesson: when you walk with Jesus, prepare to be amazed by His surprises.

“He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.” – Matthew 28:6

The Promise of Resurrection

Just as those women were surprised by the empty tomb, God continues to bring unexpected blessings into our lives. Consider this powerful truth:

“Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.'” – John 11:25

This isn’t just about physical death – it’s about experiencing new life in every area of your existence. When circumstances seem hopeless, remember: the same power that raised Jesus from the dead is working in your life right now.

2. Embrace Your Sacred Commitment

The angel didn’t just show the empty tomb to the women – he gave them a mission. This reveals our second truth: salvation comes with responsibility.

The Urgency of Sharing Hope

Like those women who “went out quickly” to share the good news, we too have been entrusted with a message of hope. But here’s the challenging question: How many people in your life are still waiting to hear about the hope you’ve found in Jesus?

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes.” – Romans 1:16

This commitment isn’t about guilt or obligation – it flows from a heart of gratitude. Just as Jesus went to the cross out of love, we share His message because we’ve experienced His transforming power firsthand.

3. Rest in His Unfailing Support

Perhaps the most comforting aspect of Easter is found in Jesus’ promise: “He is going before you into Galilee.” This wasn’t just for the disciples – it’s for you too.

Never Alone on Your Journey

“The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him in truth.” – Psalm 145:18

In every situation you face, whether it’s:

  • Financial challenges
  • Health concerns
  • Relationship struggles
  • Career decisions

Jesus has already gone before you. He’s not just with you – He’s ahead of you, preparing the way.

Your Easter Challenge

As we conclude, I want to challenge you with this question: Is your life genuinely aligned with God’s purpose for you?

Take a moment to reflect:

  1. What divine surprises have you overlooked recently?
  2. How are you sharing the hope of resurrection with others?
  3. Are you fully trusting in God’s support system for your life?

Remember, Jesus didn’t die and rise again just so we could have a comfortable life. He rose to give us an extraordinary purpose. Your job, family, and achievements are important, but they’re temporary. What eternal impact will your life have?

A Final Invitation

If you haven’t yet experienced the transforming power of Jesus in your life, today could be your divine appointment. Don’t wait another moment to embrace the one who conquered death for you. He’s ready to turn your story into a testimony of His resurrection power.

The tomb is empty. The curse is broken. Now it’s your turn to live fully alive in Jesus.
